You moved into a home with an existing home security system
Sometimes when you close on a house, a modern security system is already in use. All the alarms and cameras function well, are hung in the correct spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might find that you have to call and establish a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration problems, and they may offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary trip, and you can get your monitoring set up without worrying about any new components -- unless you get some new devices.
The previous homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time set-up fee to make your life simpler. If the outgoing residents are moving to an apartment complex or smaller home, transferring the Vivint service may be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your home security devices with you
You might want to bring your old Vivint system with you to a new place when you move. That’s fairly simple to transfer, as modern alarms and smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each alarm or camera yourself or call a Vivint installer to dismantle the system. Then a pro will put in the same devices -- and any additions you need to make -- in the new place. And your home security contract will keep the same.
